• Language is how we use words and sentences
  
  
• We use words and sentences to get messages in and out
  
  
• To get a message out we need words and sentences for talking or writing
  
  
• To get a message in we need words and sentences for understanding what we hear or read
  
  
• A problem getting messages in and out that we see or hear is called aphasia (pronounced a-fay-zee-a)
